Individual Fellowships

There are many funding agencies in Germany, Europe and throughout the world offering individual fellowships to doctoral candidates. Although most agencies have some conditions in common, each agency has its own requirements, regulations and application deadlines. Landesgraduiertenförderung (Doctoral funding agency of the State of Baden-Württemberg)


The individual fellowships through the Landesgraduiertenförderung (LGFG) are generally awarded once a year by the Graduate Academy. The fellowships are granted for a period of up to three years.

Begabtenförderungswerke (Twelve organizations for the promotion of young talent)

In Germany, there are twelve organizations for the promotion of young talent. They are all supported by different societal institutions (political parties, churches etc) and all award doctoral fellowships.

The German Mobility Centre of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation informs German and international scholars about funding opportunities.

Stipendienlotse
The funding database of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research provides information to students, doctoral candidates and young researchers about a large number of different funding opportunities.

Kisswin
Funding database and information platform with a wide range of services pertaining to academic careers.

ELFI
The ELFI database can only be accessed by members of the University at computers on the University of Heidelberg campus.


DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)

The DAAD is a shared facility of the universities in Germany. Its mission is to promote good relationships between German and international universities through the exchange of students and scholars as well as through international programs and projects.
