Within the framework of the “China-Weeks” at Heidelberg University, an interdisciplinary German-Chinese Doctoral Symposium will be held on 26 April 2010. The symposium is directed toward doctoral candidates and post-graduates who are currently conducting research or are involved in German-Chinese projects in Heidelberg, and those who have been on sabbatical in China or plan to do so in the future. The primary objective of this symposium is to provide insight into the growing number of German-Chinese cooperative research projects at Heidelberg University. Furthermore, up-and-coming academics will be given the unique opportunity to be involved in an interdisciplinary exchange in the context of German-Chinese collaboration. Lastly, participants will be sensitized to potential points of friction and conflict that could arise in an intercultural research environment.
